However, if an author can make graphic and gross serve a purpose in an otherwise good story, more power to him. ![]() According to the author, people have passed out during live readings of Guts. However, I read Guts with intense interest. So, I’ll let other readers reach conclusions about that. I usually just skim poetry, not liking it much as a literary form. I’m not real familiar with his work, so I’ll take the author’s word for it. Guts is supposedly Palahniuk’s most famous story. There is a poem about Saint Gut-Free titled, Landmarks and a short story by Saint Gut-Free titled, Guts, which explains why he is so skinny despite his intake of food. The driver is dubbed Saint Gut-Free because he’s so skinny despite a proclivity for junk food.
